Shearling is based in Los Angeles, California. 2 members of the band, Alex Kent and Sylvie Simmons, were apart of Sprain and after they had disbanded, they went on to continue their artistic collaborations.

They played their first show on August 2024, with one of the songs from their setlist being a further evolved version of "Radio", a song that in its previous iterations had been performed by Sprain first in May 2023 until their last show in September of that same year.
